Enid Brain is a bisexual trans lesbian based in NYC by way of the Midwest and South. Enid is a teacher, multi-disciplinary artist, and activist and her writing has been performed around the world and published in multiple languages. She is a semi-regular contributor to Howlround, writing on how to create a new theatre culture in the age of capitalist crisis, and has contributed two book chapters (One for Greenhaven Publishing on Green Politics, and one [co-authored with Olivia Wood] for Lexington Books on slasher films as queer texts. Enid’s work has been recognized including with the Special Jury Prize, FMM Fellowship for Works in Heightened Language from Synecdoche Works for her play “A Faerie Tale of New York” and the Grand Jury Choice for Best Social Issues Film from the FFTG Awards for her film “What Being a Woman Means to Me.” She has previously been the Associate Artistic Director of This Is Not a Theatre Company, the Creative Producer for Experimental Bitch Presents, and the Founding Artistic Director of Embodied Theatre Project. Currently, Enid studies and teaches at the City College of New York. Enid loves the world and is not a nihilist.
