theme: Trauma & Grief

intermissions zine guidelines

3-5 poems submitted in a single document. Each submission should be 10 pages maximum, with each new poem starting on a new page. Please include page numbers.
Absolutely NO AI must be involved in the entire creative process of your work.
If your story or work contains triggering topics, please include potential trigger warnings and our editors will have a discussion with you on which ones need to be included in the final publication.
Please submit 3-5 poems that showcase your best work on the topic, all in one document with each new poem starting on a new page, with a page limit of 10.
Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but please withdraw your work if you are accepted elsewhere.
Please include page numbers in your submission.

Between 500-1000 words and no more. We are looking for social commentary on film, TV, culture, novels and poetry.
Absolutely NO AI must be involved in the entire creative process of your work.
There needs to be a concise and clear thesis to your work. The more specific, the better. This is a short essay. Brevity and clarity is of the utmost importance.
- Exceptions to this are lyrical/personal essays.
The theme must be clearly stated in your thesis statement.
Anything, in terms of topic but related to the theme, is open to interpretation as long as it is thoroughly explained.
All submissions need to be sent through Google docs or Word doc.

Between 500 – 1000 words and no more. All stories MUST be original stories not associated with known fictional media already published. All genres of fiction are welcome.
It must be a self contained, complete story. Cannot be an excerpt from a larger work.
Absolutely NO AI must be involved in the entire creative process of your work.
Must contain original story and original characters.

All art MUST be original work. No AI will be accepted. Art pieces can be inspired by known artistic style according to our theme.

All parts of the piece must be included in the submission.
Make sure all final submissions are in highest resolution for best visual outcome.
